I feel a bit sad to have left Valencia.
There is something about the city that makes me feel like I’m at home.
I’m not sure if it is the Spanish way of life? Despite the initial struggle we ended up really enjoying eating at later times than we were used to; siestas; the laid-back way of life and the friendliness of locals. I already miss the rhythm we had fallen into of going to the art and craft cafe every Wednesday and piano lessons on a Tuesday.
Maybe it’s the language? Here in Prague I don’t understand anything! We are trying to get to grips with basic phrases but Czech is unlike any language I have studied. In Valencia I was enjoying learning and felt I could finally engage in conversations with people by the time we left.
Or maybe – and I think this might be the most likely – Valencia was our first stop on our adventure, and so it holds a sort of magical feeling of freedom and wonder for me.
All the preparation, research and faff of selling everything and packing finally paid off and Valencia was the first reward for all that effort. I wonder if the first place you go to is always special for travelling families?
Well, whatever it is I feel certain we will revisit you Valencia.
Hasta luego 🙂
